Many w/k contributions are only published in German. For our international readers we provide a brief summary in English:
This article outlines the understanding of art by the critical theorists Theodor W. Adorno, Herbert Marcuse and Ernst Fischer, whose thinking draws from Hegel’s historical-philosophical ideas about the epistemological character of art – and the topos of its ‘end’ or ‘death’. Their perspectives on art reveal both a utopian promise of happiness and what they criticise in society.
