Many w/k contributions are only published in German. For our international readers we provide a brief summary in English:
The basis to aesthetic experience is built upon an interplay between showing and seeing, which occurs in communication between adult and child. Showing, naming and greeting are integral to the development of perception and forming a worldview. This can be understood as a foundation for receptive openness to perceive aesthetic objects. Thomas Schönauer’s installation Himmelskreuz at Luthergarten in Wittenberg demonstrates how the interplay between showing and seeing can detach itself from a historically and religiously influenced worldview.
