(Y)OUR DATA IS A BATTLEGROUND

Text: Michael Klipphahn | Section: Articles about Artists

Summary: The exhibition Y(OUR) DATA IS A BATTLEGROUND by Kunstverein Meißen e. V. is dedicated to the theme of artificial intelligence with works by the Moving Target Collective (Amelie Goldfuß, Natalie Sontopski and Alexa Steinbrück), Fabian Hampel, Simone C. Niquille/Technoflesh and Maximilian Stühlen. The exhibition is curated by Michael Klipphahn, Schaufler Lab@TU Dresden and will run from March 5 to April 23, 2022.

Y(OUR) DATA IS A BATTLEGROUND deals with Artificial Intelligence from the perspective of young, primarily East German contemporary art in an interdisciplinary context. The majority of the artists and researchers shown have their study or life center in the East German federal states. All of them are dedicated to a critical reflection on the procedures of AI technology, the handling of underlying data sets or they refer to digitality and AI as a reason for their artistic examination. For the realization of their works, the artists themselves predominantly use techniques from the field of AI or make use of corresponding narratives.
